The first minister that meets us in the church - minister of order or usher (literally "one that leads after himself").

Usher ministry in Bible is described as the ministry of Levites that were chosen by God to minister in His Sanctuary, to help priests in the ministry in Temple. In the desert their ministry was to care about the Tabernacle and its accessories they were carrying. In the Temple they had to keep guard at the gates, watch after the clothes, vessels, lamps, bake the breads for offerings, bring wood and water, provide assistance in sacrificing of the animals. Levites were also responsible for the defence of the Sanctuary.

In the times of David there was separating of responsibilities. Gate watchers and singers appeared, judges and scribes. They all were called Levites and ministered in Taberncale. In the times of first Apostles ushers were busy distributing food, clothes, they were solving practical matters.

Presently ushers are meeting and blessing those that come to the church, helping them to find seats in the auditorium. During the services they are maintaining the order and keep the noise down.
